Britain in Bloom winners 2009

We are delighted to announce that Pendra Loweth have been named as a winner in this year’s Britain in Bloom contest. Our architect-designed gardens have received the award for commercial premises from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

The prestigious Britain in Bloom award is the latest accolade for our architect-designed gardens which have been landscaped around our self-catering holiday cottages. Pendra Loweth is set within 16 acres of woodland in the Maen Valley, near Swanpool.

As well as providing a beautiful backdrop for the park, our gardens and surrounding woodland are protected and serve as a valuable conservation site for local wildlife.

The recognition from Britain in Bloom, which focuses on entrants’ green credentials as well as their horticultural flair, adds another success to the list of accolades won by our team of gardeners.

John Hick, who has been at the helm of Pendra for over forty years, said: “We’re thrilled that the quality of our gardens have been recognised by the RHS and Britain in Bloom.

“The gardens and woodland that make Pendra Loweth the lush, green place that it is are vitally important to us and we have always worked very hard to ensure that we do everything we can to keep them in the best condition for the local wildlife and for our visitors.

“Pendra has a wonderful gardening team and it’s fantastic for them to get such an acknowledgment for the grounds that we’re all so proud of.”

At Pendra Loweth, we have long been known for our commitment to promoting environmental tourism. Nearly 20 years ago John Hick helped to pioneer the first holiday-industry environmental tourism award scheme in the form of the David Bellamy awards to encourage holiday parks to actively promote and protect the natural environment. Pendra Loweth has maintained a gold David Bellamy award ever since.
